Ondersteuning van projecten door ISPO Nederland

ISPO Nederland biedt de mogelijkheid om een aantal activiteiten te steunen die liggen binnen haar domein. Het gaat daarbij om een bijdrage van gemiddeld € 2.500 per jaar, ter ondersteuning van bijvoorbeeld scholingsactiviteiten in derde wereldlanden, studiereizen of kleinschalig onderzoek.

• To Walk Without Pain - Frugal Innovation by Base-of-­the-­Pyramid Innovators

  This study explores the nascent phenomenon of innovation by local innovators in low-­income i.e. Base-­of-­the-­Pyramid (BoP)
  markets, using a single exemplary case study. Research on innovation for large and fast growing BoP markets tends to focus on
  the efforts of multinationals from high-­income i.e. Top-­of-­the-­Pyramid (ToP) markets. Due to the very different nature of BoP
  users and markets, existing research agrees that multinationals both lack cultural understanding of the BoP and are hindered
  by existing inappropriate business models. Using a single case study it shows how inherent immersion allowed a local BoP
  innovator in Thailand, the Prostheses Foundation, to discover and understand the rationales behind the severe constrained
  access of poor amputees to affordable and appropriate artificial legs. The severe constraints faced by the Prostheses Foundation
  stimulated a highly frugal innovation process targeted at poor amputees that resulted in accessible, appropriate and
  affordable artificial legs. The results of this study are used to reflect on existing innovation theories that focus on the innovation
  efforts of multinationals targeting the BoP.
  
• Lower leg prosthetics in Indonesia
  The report is the result of a field research to investigate the prosthetic field in
  Yogyakarta (Indonesia). The research is financially supported by the Dutch department of the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO NL) and it was related to the Fablab Yogyakarta program, initiated by ‘the House of Natural Fibers’ (HONF) in Yogyakarta and Alex Schaub of the Waag Society Amsterdam. Part of the research is conducted together with Agus ‘Timbil’ Budiarto from Yogyakarta, who is a member of HONF.
• De optimale enkelvoet orthese
  Op woensdag 12 oktober promoveerde onderzoeker Daan Bregman aan het VUmc op zijn proefschrift getiteld The optimal Ankle Foot Orthosis, ofwel De optimale Enkelvoetorthese. Het drukken van dit proefschrift werd ondersteund door ISPO Nederland.
  In het proefschrift wordt nagegaan met welke mechanische eigenschappen (zoals de stijfheid) een Enkelvoetorthese (EVO) voor het meeste verbetering in de loopvaardigheid zorgt bij patiënten met multiple sclerose of een herseninfarct.

Procedure
Voorstellen kunnen het hele jaar door worden ingediend, maar per jaar komen maar een beperkt aantal verzoeken voor honorering in aanmerking. Om in aanmerking te komen voor een bijdrage dient de betrokkene een formeel verzoek in te dienen bij het bestuur van ISPO-Nederland volgens bijgaand format. Voorstellen kunnen zowel per e-mail als per post te worden ingediend. Alleen voorstellen die worden ingeleverd via het format worden beoordeeld.

Beoordeling
De voorstellen worden door het bestuur van de Nederlandse tak van ISPO besproken tijdens een reguliere bestuursvergadering. Het oordeel van het bestuur zal, inclusief motivatie, worden opgestuurd aan de betrokkene. In de regel zal een aanvraag binnen 12 weken worden beantwoord; alleen in de zomer kan de termijn oplopen tot 16 weken.
